How much would you pay for a garbage bin to place in your office or even at your home? Could your wallet grab attention of your friends around you? Are you a fashion freak who looks for fanciful accessories like an out of world handbag or a mini laptop bag? Here comes KAAHIDHAM(PAPER).
It is basically a creative initiative which has both business and social motives. Newspapers after being skimmed and scanned by us are being stocked in our store rooms for months and sold for meagre amount of money to the recyclers. That’s not a bad idea but none of us would have flaunted or even noticed the unique, artistic patterns on the dailies. When crafted with artistic mind it can be turned into admirable work-pieces like a wallet or a garbage bin or a handbag.
It all started with a competition organized by my college called ‘Best Out of Waste’ for which I enrolled my name and wove a dust bin with the help of my friend. Surprisingly I won the competition hands down. Judges and my friends loved it more than I anticipated it to be. I then started to make few other goodies like a wallet and a handbag which astounded my classmates. I then got this weird idea of transcending this innovative into a business.
We prepare goodies made of normal newspapers which are of no use after a day. I reckon this idea definitely is far better than recycling the papers. The items will be of reasonable prices which you would think is meagre for such work. Please do patronize us which would feed our minds that are filled with ideas.
Though this initiative is mainly focused on business perspectives it does have a considerable effect on the environment if done on a large scale. If mass productions were started on this project the amount of newspaper that goes for recycling will definitely be reduced. Whether we know or not we exhaust a lot of energy on recycling papers yet we consider it a fair play. This means consuming more of our environment with a motive of renewing it. Whereas this method of renewal would thus cease us from dumping newspaper to recyclers and which would thus in turn have an effect on power consumptions at least for a tiny percentage at the beginning.
As far as business motives are concerned this method actually takes in little investment. It mainly relies on human skills rather than money. The investment on this project is only a bulk of old newspapers and few tapes to stick the together. Therefore, these hardly cost us any for the making of our products. So if this idea turns a success the bounty would be great. Who may know this idea may even turn into a fashion statement in the near future. People nowadays of course love ‘MAD’ kind of accessories and we have already noticed that these products are greatly gaining a lot of attention from people who see them. We are working more on making this look much fashionable and trendy. We anticipate these products to have a longer life, considering it that these were made with newspapers. For example the wallet we have designed seems to have a life period of say a year. So these products may be considered a cheap source of fashion accessories.
We also have few other ideas which are also completely environment friendly and which may also be fruitful as the current idea would be.
